Romania’s president has rejected a proposal by the leftist party that won elections this month to appoint the country’s first female and first Muslim prime minister.

Niloofar Rahmani, a 25 year old captain with the Afghan Air Force, said she would not be going back to Afghanistan as planned, because of ongoing threats against her, and seeking asylum in the US.

A senior Saudi cleric and a health ministry official said women should be allowed to work as paramedics and opticians, part of a push to relax strict labor codes in the ultra-conservative kingdom.

During the rebellion that brought down the dictator’s regime, Libyan women were, for the first time, at the forefront alongside the men. But now they’re being intimidated and left out of creating a path forward.

On the 19th December at St Elie Greek Catholic Church, located in a Muslim neighborhood, a group of around 40 girls sang beautiful Christmas carols as they took part in the church’s Christmas festivities.
