Some of our MMW readers might remember Nicole Hunter-Mostafa, who wrote several posts for MMW in 2013.*  The MMW team was deeply saddened recently to learn that Nicole passed away of cancer about a week ago.  She leaves her husband and two young daughters, as well as a wide network of family and friends around the world.

Nicole’s writing was clever, witty, and thoughtful, as she reflected on gender, Islam, motherhood, and the ups and downs of being an American woman in Saudi Arabia.  Her MMW posts can be found here, and she also wrote regularly at her personal blog, the same rainbow’s end.  For anyone wanting to make a financial contribution in her memory, Nicole’s brother has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for a scholarship in her name.

The MMW team sends our most heartfelt condolences to Nicole’s loved ones, and we ask our readers to keep her in your thoughts and prayers.  Innaa lillahi wa innaa ilayhi raaji’oun/To God we belong and to God we will return.  May Nicole be forever held in love and light.

*Not to be confused with Nicole Cunningham, who has been writing regularly with MMW since 2010.
